These cover buying from us, making an offer, and bidding. Using the site
means you are going along with them.
Who we are
Deadstock & Dandies, 965 5th Avenue, New Kensington, Pennsylvania 15068. We buy, sell
and trade secondhand and deadstock footwear and apparel.
We are not affiliated with any brand. Not Nike, not Jordan Brand, not
adidas, not anyone else. We are an independent reseller. Brand names on this site are used
to describe what a pair actually is, which is the only way to describe a shoe. Every pair
we sell is a genuine article that we bought and are reselling lawfully.
Everything here is one pair
Most of what we list is a single pair in a single size. When it is gone it is gone, and a
listing coming down does not mean we can get another.
Making an offer
- An offer is you telling us what you would pay. It is not a purchase and it does not
hold the pair.
- We can accept it, come back with a different number, or pass. We will tell you either
way.
- Your offer stays private. Nobody else sees what you or anyone else offered.
- Some pairs have a number we will not go below. We do not publish it, but if your offer is under it we will tell you, and we may come back with a counter.
- A sale happens when we both agree and it is paid for. Not before.
Bidding at auction
When we are running an auction, these are the rules and they are binding on both of us.
- One pair a night. Bidding opens at the posted start price and closes at
the posted time.
- You bid a maximum, not a price. We raise you one increment at a time only
as far as we have to. If nobody pushes you, you pay less than your maximum.
- A bid in the last two minutes extends the close by two minutes. It ends
when bidding stops, not when the clock runs out.
- Bids are binding. They cannot be lowered or withdrawn.
- The winner has 24 hours to pay. After that the pair goes to the next
bidder or back on the wall, and we may decline your bids in future.
- Some pairs carry a reserve. Where there is one we say so, and we say when
it has been met. If it is not met, the pair does not sell.
- Nobody from the shop bids. Not the owner, not staff, not friends of the
shop. Any bid we find like that is voided and the reason is recorded.
- We can void a bid that is obviously a mistake, a duplicate, or placed to
manipulate the price. We write down why.
- If something breaks during an auction and it changes the outcome, we may
void the auction and run it again. We will say what happened.
Every pair is legit checked
We check every pair before it goes up. If a pair is ever not what we said it was,
you get your money back. There is no time limit on that. Bring it back in the
condition you got it.
Condition
We describe condition honestly. Deadstock means unworn. VNDS means worn very lightly.
Used means worn. Secondhand shoes have history, and photographs are of the actual pair
unless we say otherwise.
Prices and mistakes
If a price on the site is obviously wrong, we can correct it and cancel the order rather
than honour a typo. If you already paid, you get a full refund.
Paying, picking up, shipping
- Pick up at whichever of our stores has the pair (New Kensington or Monroeville), or we ship it. We tell you which store before you come, and shipping is quoted before you pay.
- Risk passes to you when you take the pair or when the carrier takes it.
- Sales tax: Pennsylvania does not tax ordinary footwear. It does tax
athletic shoes made for a specific sport, like cleats. Where tax applies we add it and
show it.
Returns
Outside the authenticity guarantee above, a sale is final unless we agreed otherwise in
writing before you paid. Ask before you buy if you are unsure.
Using the site
Do not scrape it, do not try to break it, and do not bid under names or numbers that are
not yours. We can refuse service.
Where this is settled
Pennsylvania law applies, and anything that cannot be sorted out between us belongs in
the courts of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
Changes
If we change these, the date at the top changes. An auction runs under the rules that
were posted when it opened.
